Yeah i wouldn t close the door if you don t mind them running around outside. I close the barn door at around midnight. Apparently you can do all that while still riding a horse. I m not sure if fencing the entire pasture barn coop area can prevent wolf attack.

So if the forcast for the next day says rain wait until the animals are all inside and close the door the night prior before going to bed. That way it s easier to pet the animals in the morning.
