Getting close to my first winter w a coop and a barn.
So if the forcast for the next day says rain wait until the animals are all inside and close the door the night prior before going to bed.
The chance of large eggs milk feathers and so forth is lowered if you leave the door open.
They won t go outside during the winter even if it s not snowing so unless you want to chance them getting eaten by wolves i d say keep the doors closed.
The total cost of a deluxe barn built from scratch is 43 000g wood 1350 stone 650 or if all wood and stone are bought from robin during year 1 69 500g and 175 500g if bought in year 2 barn animals may be stuck outside at night if the barn doors are closed.
Same if you leave the door closed during sunny days.
Leaving the doors open only reduces the animal s happiness.
They won t be killed though so it s not a huge issue if you forget occationally.
What i m wondering is should i keep the doors shut during the winter time or does it not really effect the mood of the animals since i ve already got heaters in both.

Never said that quality affected the artisan good.
Leaving the door open will lower the mood of your animals if it s raining or in winter.
They like to be outside during the day in evry season except winter.
Forget to close the doors and you end up like this a field full of animals where you get to play guesswork and chase the cow to harvest from them.
When the animals are in their barns it s a lot easier to keep track of them for petting milking shearing.
Leaving it closed while an animal is outside can cause wolves to attack them on any farm type.

Leaving the barn or coop door open overnight does not matter at all.
